In addition to our extensive range of lime kilns, Maguin also has the knowledge and experience in the technology necessary to prepare milk of lime and use it for juice purification.

The process consists in putting into contact quick lime pieces with juice coming from the sugar factory or condensate water in a rotary tube (MICK). A filtration grid installed at the MICK outlet separates out the unburnt material (greater than 8 mm). The milk of lime is then cleaned to remove sand and other waste, matured and fed into storage tanks. The milk of lime flows in a closed circuit between the purification station and the storage tank to avoid any caking. All tanks are equipped with agitators.

A standard range of equipment is offered to match the MAGUIN lime kilns range. Customized installations can be proposed to answer customers’ particular needs.

The installation is operated automatically. The density of the milk of lime produced can be adjusted with a precision of +/- 0.2° Baumé around a set value. This control is carried out in two steps with a pre-adjustment loop followed by a fine adjustment loop.

The lime kiln operation is controlled by the storage tank level. The quantity of milk of lime required for the purification therefore controls the whole lime kiln + milk of lime preparation installation (for an installation with a MAGUIN lime kiln).

Furthermore, a Maguin installation is characterised by the quality of the removal of sand in the milk of lime, carried out in two steps with a screw purifier and a double sand collector.

The lime slaking process creates a lot of steam which can carry away fines. Maguin therefore offers, as an option, a steam scrubber which cleans the steam collected from the MICK inlet and outlet.

In addition to offering new installations, Maguin can also assist in the diagnosis and repair of existing installations (e.g. lime slaker replacement, density regulation automation, de-sanding…)
